Although the Paleo Diet has gotten more press than Kim Kardashian’s sex tape, I still think it’s relevant to share some insights into what exactly it is and why trying it might be just the boost you need.
First off, I’m not a believer in traditional diets. They imply a temporary solution to a permanent problem: Your fat.
Weight loss gurus, fitness marketers, and anyone with their hand in the multi-billion dollar fitness pie will try to sell you as to why their diet is the one you must try. It’s all bullshit though and 95% are actually more harmful than helpful.
The Paleo Works For Me But Is It Right For You?
I speak from experience when I tell you that this diet works. If your goal is fat loss, lean muscle gain, and more energy, then eating Paleo style does a good job of helping you accomplish those things. With that said, just because I’ve had great results and am currently eating Paleo, doesn’t mean it’s right for you.
Although I don’t believe in permanently eliminating entire foods groups, I do believe trying the Paleo is a great way to jump start a shitty metabolism, boost your energy through the roof, and detoxify your body from all the processed garbage you’re eating now.
But I’ll let you decide for yourself.
In today’s video, I share 10 things you should know about the Paleo Diet before you try it.
Leave a comment and let me know if you’ve had success eating Paleo. And if you have a YouTube account, feel free to subscribe to the Fit Dad Nation channel and get alerts when I post a new video!
For the most part I’m a fan of the Paleo concept, but I think it’s become over-complicated and overly commercialized. Book, apps, lists of foods that are and are not Paleo. No corn, because it’s a grain, not a vegetable — okay, that makes sense. But no beans? No potatoes? Try to avoid carrots because they have too much natural sugar in them? Yeah, right, show me the person who gains weight from eating too many carrots!
I fully concur with your assessment that Paleo is effective for detoxing the body and jump-starting (in my case, it feels more like laboriously push-starting a recalcitrant VW Bug) a sluggish metabolism.
Hey David,
I try to simplify the Paleo in my head and just focus on the main things.
1. Meat
2. Veggies
3. Fruit
4. Nuts and oils
I haven’t been paying attention to all the other * items and haven’t gotten into all the organics and grass fed/farm raised, etc stuff.
