With 2020 here, many of you have resolutions and goals to get fit, lean, strong, and healthy but there are some obstacles in your way.
If it was easy to get fit and stay there, we’d have a country full of fit, not fat, people.
Today, I want to share 5 things to stop doing if you’re serious about changing your health, diet, and body.
1) Stop chasing transformations and start chasing hard work.
Many of the amazing before/after photos we see aren’t legit and many are due to extreme, even unhealthy diets and programs. This year, forget about the big end result you want and embrace some hard work and self-discipline.
2) Stop eating like an asshole.
You know you do it, hell we all do it. And we all know what to eat and what not to eat, we just refuse to actually do it for any length of time. This year, stop eating the foods you KNOW are bad for you or that will hinder your progress and focus on simple, healthy options. Don’t overcomplicate things. Eat as many foods as you can with one ingredient.
3) Stop listening to people who don’t know what they’re talking about.
The Internet and social media have made it overly easy for anyone, regardless of qualifications, to call themselves a fitness expert or coach and start dishing out advice. And the sad part is that people listen. Having a great body doesn’t make you a great coach (or a coach at all). Do your homework before you jump into that fancy online program or hire that coach.
4) Stop thinking there is a “best” diet out there.
Believe me, there isn’t. What works for your coworker, brother, or friend, doesn’t mean it will work for you. For a diet to work, it has to be healthy, get you results, AND be sustainable. Many “hot” diets like the Keto or Carnivore aren’t suitable for most because they’re very hard to stick to.
5) Stop selling yourself short.
Years of failures and disappointments have led you to believe that you can’t get fit; at least not into the shape you really want. After 22 years of coaching, I can tell you with 100% certainty that it’s just not true. Put in the work, do the right things, follow your plan, surround yourself with the right people, and you will get there.
