Motivation is one of the things I struggle with most as a fitness coach. Not my own, but rather with my clients.
I can teach proper exercise form, how to cycle carbs, how to eat for fat loss and muscle gain, when to exercise, and how to set up an effective exercise program, but if a person is not motivated to actually do any of these things, they will never work.
Sure it’s easy to get fired up when you find a new program or diet you want to try or when you first hire a trainer, but then what? You are on your own for 96% of each day and have to deal with all of life’s little speed bumps as they come.
It’s really easy to get sidetracked and lose sight of why you’re doing what you said you wanted to do.
Getting and staying motivated on a long-term basis is a very deep subject and not the focus of today’s video. Instead, I share 8 ways that you can get motivated to move your ass in the short-term; as in today!
We all need a little boost from time to time (or every day), and often times finding that spark can come from something very small. A piece of clothing you wear, a song you hear, or a picture of yourself ten years ago. Those things can motivate you off the couch and into the gym and my theory is that if it triggers something in you to take action, then I’m all for it.
So take a few minutes to watch today’s video, and let me know which of these works for you and which don’t!
And if none of these work, you can always let the thought of a naked woman (who wants to sleep with you) motivate you!
And if you have a YouTube account, feel free to subscribe to the FitDadNation Channel and get alerts when I post a new video!
Crank up the tunes! Laugh if you will, but Twisted Sister blasting out We’re Not Gonna Take It is the “Power Song” on my workout iPod! (Kinda relates back to your ’80s post from a couple of weeks ago.) When that song cycles around on the playlist, I can’t help but ask myself: What do you want to do with your life?!
Great tune! I ask myself that question as well when certain songs come on..funny how that works..
