As much as I hate to admit it, I’m getting older. Not as in “we all get older”, but I am noticing a change in how my body looks and reacts to what I do to it.
The days of eating 3,000 calories worth of anything I wanted are gone (although they lasted well into my thirties) and my body has been much more resistant to change over the past several years.
But more recently, I noticed that my body is being very stubborn when it comes to shedding fat. Just doing some interval training and cleaning up my diet isn’t enough anymore.
Staying fit, regardless of age, is a challenging feat, but when we start to hit those middle aged years (I’m 43), things start to slow down and we have to work extra hard to keep (and hopefully) build on our gains.
In today’s video I share 8 ideas that men over 40 should pay close attention to. I wish it wasn’t so, but the fact is that shit changes and we have to change with it.
Here are my 8 tips for staying healthy and fit for men over 40:
- Strength train to help offset the 1% muscle mass loss each year after age 40
- Pay attention to your lifestyle and don’t over train
- Stretch and foam roll daily
- Get annual exams
- Check your thyroid and adrenal glands
- Use weight bearing exercise
- Pay close attention to your diet and nutrients/antioxidants
- Read your body
What are your thoughts? Is there anything you think I should add?
