Dr. Shawn Baker is an orthopedic surgeon, international speaker, podcast host, CEO of and author of The Carnivore Diet. He’s been featured in numerous mainstream media channels and is one of the people largely responsible for the Carnivore movement that seems to be everywhere on social media.

I’ve been following him on Instagram and watching his videos for months and am very interested in the science behind this diet, so I was excited when he agreed to this interview.
Before we even got into the Carnivore, Dr. Baker shared his thoughts on why we, as a nation, are the fattest we’ve ever been and why it’s not getting better despite all the information and resources we have access to.

Since not everyone knows what the Carnivore Diet is, I asked him to break down exactly what it is and what’s on the menu as well as why it’s been helping so many people lose weight and help with their autoimmune diseases.

He has really chalked up hundreds, if not thousands, of testimonials with people who have had success with the Carnivore and although I was clear that I wasn’t necessarily a fan of such a strict approach to eating, I admire the work he’s doing to help people get healthy.

Yes, this is an extreme approach and is essentially an elimination diet, which explains many of the successes his clients have had as they remove things like gluten, dairy, and sugar from their diets.
We talked about the calorie and/or macro counting and if it’s necessary on the Carnivore and the differences between the Keto Diet and the Carnivore.

I asked him who, if anyone, isn’t a good fit for this diet and his answer was surprising. We also discussed how to break free from our processed food addiction and how to change our relationship with food, which really is at the root of most of our struggles with obesity.

He also shared his thoughts on the Netflix documentary, The Game Changers, which has stirred up a lot of controversy in regards to meat consumption. He has a great rebuttal to this show, which clears up a lot of the misinformation shared in it.

If you’re curious about the Carnivore, this is THE man to listen to on the subject.
