Let’s be honest here. As men we love boobs, right?
Just not on us.
Believe it or not, there are literally tens of thousands of searches on Google each month relating to getting rid of man boobs. This isn’t something a few select guys deal with, it’s a major issue!
I read that between 33% to 41% of men between the ages of 25 and 45 deal with man boobs and 55% to 60% of men aged 50 and older have man boobs!
Affectionately referred to as man boobs, man cans, moobs, or bitch tits, these have been the cause of many an embarrassed guy.
Man Boobs or Gyno?
Before I get started on how to banish those man cans, it’s important to understand that what I discuss here is NOT for men with the medical condition called clinical gynecomastia (gyno) or male breast enlargement.
Gynecomastia is caused by a hormone imbalance between testosterone and estrogen and when the ratio between them tips in favor of estrogen, the body responds by creating excessive breast tissue.
It’s usually not a serious problem and may possibly go away on its own, but if you are not overweight or if they came on quickly without an increase in body weight, it may be gyno.
The good news is that in the majority of cases, it isn’t gyno at all, but rather just too much fatty tissue.
If it’s just a result from carrying excess body fat, then you can make great improvements with some changes to your diet, exercise program, and lifestyle.
Man cans are nothing more than excess fat stored in the chest. Just like a woman with a big booty, you have man boobs. And as much as women want to lose weight in their hips or ass, often times that’s the last place they lose weight. And the same holds true for men.
The reason is that you cannot spot reduce. You must lose body fat in order to lose your moobs.
What Man Boobs Are Doing To You
If the term “shirts and skins” sends panic waves down your spine, you’re not alone. If you’ve gone to the beach on a hot and humid day but refused to take your shirt off, you’re not alone. If you find yourself wearing multiple shirts just to reduce the appearance of your moobs, you are not alone.
Having man boobs fucks with your mind and emotions. It wreaks havoc on your confidence and self-esteem and can leave you feeling hopeless and alone.
A few of the common effects of living with man cans are:
- Lower self esteem
- Low confidence
- Feeling of unattractiveness
- Feeling alone
- Picked on, laughed at
- Messes with social life and relationships/intimacy
This is no way to live. Seriously. If you don’t have clinical gynecomastia, then you can fix this and start feeling better about yourself!
How To Get Rid Of Man Boobs Once and For All!
By making changes to the following things, you can reduce and eliminate mans boobs permanently:
- Your diet. What you eat will play a major role is man boob reduction.
- Your hormones. Having too little testosterone or too much estrogen will make it much harder for you to lose them.
- Your training. Train heavy and hard, focus on compound lifts, and get your HIIT in. Our 90 day program focuses on this type of training and is designed to help boost testosterone.
- Your lifestyle. Reduce stress, get better sleep, and be smart about your choices.
Today’s video details four ways on how to lose man boobs permanently.
Just remember, regardless of how hopeless you may feel, you can change this with some hard work, doing the right things, and staying consistent!

I am 40 and i cannot get rid of my moobs please help me
Thant’s what this post is for…
what is hiit?
High intensity interval training. Its basically working to increase your heart rate for a short period of time, then resting to bring it back down. Some basic hiit would be sprinting for two minutes, then lightly jogging for one, repeating that for about 30 minutes.
Great article Steve. A tip: you should definitely avoid canned food and bottled water because they can lower testosterone.
Thanks Cliff.I’ve read that as well and there are SO many things that can lower T or raise estrogenfor us.
I’m 55, two time widow maker survivor, I have CHF,
and a 40% ejection fraction.
Lived with moobs all my life and experienced everything mentioned. Took my head out of my ass, had both shoulders repaired and with proper nutrition and only 1 machine in the gym (always looks like the most unused) the elliptical, have shed some 30lbs. It will look worse (visually) as you progress but be not dismayed, muscle has memory BUT! get rid of all of the fat 1st. Having trained for 3 years with my brother and ex sister in law in 99-2001 right before she won her IFBB Pro middle weight card, I know the drill. If your over 50, break from the “gym” mentality of weight work out if core fats been a problem, and do just 2 things. Be regimented in your proper food intake, 30-45 min on elliptical 6 days a week. DONE.
Well done on your progress James however I don’t think using just an elliptical is the answer. There is nothing wrong with adding that in to a strength program, but resistance training is far more effective for far loss than cardio alone.
